Keep On Running!

Yes, we've reached back to The Spencer Davis Group, for "Keep On Running," as we bring the widest variety of American music of any show online. That was originally a Jamaican ska song. The Spencer Davis Group's version was a hit in 1966.
And the shouting in the background? That's Jimmy Cliff, who was in the studio, whooping with excitement as the band lays the track down.
We've got it all this week on The Big Fat Wide Americana Hour -- soul, blues, country, bluegrass, and loads of fun. And we've got a few songs where the backup singer was as famous as the lead performer -- or even more so. Hold a second, is that really Bruce Springsteen in the background there on a Joe Ely song?
Sure is.
Among the other performers featured this week:
Gladys Knight, Rhiannon Giddens, Marvin Gaye
Paul Simon, Randy Newman, Delbert McClinton
Robben Ford, Rhiannon Giddens
Martin Harley and Daniel Kimbro
Carly Simon, Taj Mahal and Robben Ford
Not to mention some very famous backup singers.
Enjoy! And crank it!
